I’d like to help. What's the best way to do this?
The best way to help us is to donate money via this website using the donate button. We are a small, independent charity and are always struggling to provide the standard of service that we know the survivors who use our services deserve.
How else can I help?
- You could donate vouchers from Sainsburys or Tesco; these are useful for us to give directly to the families.
- You could arrange a legacy gift in your will.
- You and your employer could set up ‘give as you earn’
- Your business could arrange a fundraising event
- You could arrange a fundraising event at home
- Your business could have one of our collection pots in their reception
- Contact us to talk about any other ideas - we'd love to hear from you!
Fundraising
I’d like to help by raising funds. What are my options?
There are many ways to fundraise for I Choose Freedom, from challenge events and bake sales to quiz nights and more. We've provided an A-Z of some ideas to help give you fundraising inspiration.
To donate please follow the 'Donate' button at the top of the page. If you would like to get in contact about fundraising or specific donation queries, please send us an email - info@ichoosefreedom.co.uk
If you organise a fundraising event you will need to arrange your own insurance cover as I Choose Freedom’s public liability insurance does not cover this. Thank you.

How your donations help
I Choose Freedom is a small, independent charity and 100% of your donation will go towards supporting the survivors who live at our refuges.
Your donation could pay for the transport to help that family escape and get to the refuge.
This could save their lives.
- £6 could buy a colouring book and crayons to bring colour and joy to a mum and child trying to rebuild their family bonds.
- £14.75 could allow us to complete an initial referral call with a survivor seeking a path to freedom, helping us support them safely to refuge.
- £25 could provide essential bedding and a comforting throw for an exhausted survivor arriving with nothing.
- £32.50 could provide a food package so a family can make dinners and a few cups of tea during their first days in refuge.
- £100 could pay for psychotherapy for a teenager who has suffered extreme trauma
- £50 could provide a session of play therapy for a child survivor struggling to put their complex feelings into words.
- £130 could provide two sessions of job interview coaching, helping a survivor find their confidence and continue rebuilding their lives beyond refuge.
- £200 could provide 3 months’ resettlement support to a survivor living independently in the community after refuge.
- £210 could provide a welcome pack with everything one adult survivor and two children need to make their room in refuge begin to feel like a home: toiletries, bedding, towels, kitchen essentials and a toy box to begin filling with brand new donated toys.
- £355 could facilitate our Freedom Programme, a six-week course providing a safe space for survivors to begin to understand and identify perpetrator tactics, share their experiences with each other and build peer support.
- £600 could provide a complete course of therapy for a survivor of domestic abuse, helping support their healing from trauma.
- For larger donations, please contact us so we can talk through how your donation can help support survivors and rebuild lives.
