EMMA ARMSTRONG - OUR NEW CEO

I Choose Freedom appoints Emma Armstrong as the new CEO

As of the 1st of March 2024, Emma Armstrong has been appointed CEO of I Choose Freedom.

It is with both sadness and gratitude we announce that after fourteen years of service, Charlotte Kneer has resigned from her position as Chief Executive Officer at I Choose Freedom.

Charlotte has been an inspiration and support to so many and has led I Choose Freedom with courage and commitment along with a personal drive and passion for ending domestic abuse.

Whilst we will all miss Charlotte; we are enormously pleased to announce Emma Armstrong as the new Chief Executive of I Choose Freedom. We know that the passion, knowledge, and insight that Emma brings will be invaluable to the charity over the coming years. We all look forward to working with her in what is a hugely important time for the charity.

 Read Emma’s statement below:

“As a survivor myself I have always had a passion for tackling domestic abuse. It is so important to me that victims know that there is help available and, more importantly, light at the end of the tunnel. Having worked at the charity for 10 years I am really excited to be stepping into the role of CEO. I am hoping that with the knowledge and understanding I have accrued over this time, I can continue to help shape, alongside the incredible team we have, a service that provides everything a victim needs when in a place of trauma and so much more.

I am dedicated to the team, our ethos and most importantly those who reach out to us in their time of need. Together we are stronger. Everyone can play a part in tackling domestic abuse and reducing domestic homicides. I look forward to the next part in I Choose Freedom’s journey and hope to steer the charity with the enthusiasm, commitment and dedication it deserves.”
